This was all done in
Photoshop Creative Suite. I took a photo of my darling niece, Sarah,
sitting in the exersaucer. I extracted her head and arms from the
photo. The background photo with the vase was actually a royalty free
stock photo from
www.sxc.hu,
submitted by username anniebee, but the original photo was a short glass
pot. I stretched it out to make it tall like a vase, then placed the
photo of Sarah over the top. I did a little bit of detail cleanup with
the eraser tool. Next, I drew the stem and leaves on a separate layer
using the line tool and the custom shape tool, then duplicated the
background (vase) layer and placed it over the top. I adjusted the
opacity of that layer so that the stem and leaves could be seen through
the glass. Then, I brought the layer containing Sarah’s face to the
top.

manipulation was featured in a layout published in the
February/March 2005 issue of Legacy Magazine.
